It is a longtime U.S. security partner in the Gulf, a quiet mediator in Middle East disputes, and a country sitting near the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important shipping choke points on earth.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is cited in the report in connection with the sanctions posture. The pressure campaign puts Muscat, often treated as the region’s “Switzerland,” under a much harsher spotlight.

A drone strike on Romanian homes means Russian fire landed on alliance territory, and that forces new air defense questions fast. Watch for Romania to demand more border protection and firmer allied response plans.

TechCrunch reports Anthropic closed a $65 billion Series H round at a $965 billion post-money valuation. That puts the maker of Claude near the $1 trillion line before a reported IPO path. This is an AI capital war where chips, power, cloud contracts, and talent decide who survives.

If this company goes public near that price, everyday investors will be asked to buy one of the biggest growth stories in market history.
