The US Space Force awarded SpaceX a $4.16 billion contract to build missile-tracking sensor satellites tied to President Donald Trump’s Golden Dome defense system. The Pentagon announced the award Friday after Bloomberg first reported it, with The Verge confirming the deal and noting SpaceX already has other Space Force work connected to Golden Dome. The satellites are meant to detect and track threats from space, including missiles.

This is a major piece of a new national defense system. Golden Dome gets compared to Israel’s Iron Dome, but the American version is bigger, more expensive, and far more dependent on space assets.

The media will focus on Elon Musk, SpaceX, and the company’s reported IPO paperwork. That misses the bigger point. The Pentagon is betting that speed, launch capacity, and satellite production now matter as much as old defense contracting muscle. SpaceX can launch, build, test, and expand faster than the legacy giants.

That is why the Space Force is writing checks with ten digits. Taxpayers should watch the price tag. Defense systems like this rarely stay small once the first layer gets funded. Reporting from New York City that found 430 ICE street arrests across the New York metro area from October 2025 to mid-March 2026. The arrests were concentrated in certain neighborhoods, with Latino areas hit hardest, according to the report. Border security czar Tom Homan has already threatened to “flood” New York City with ICE agents.

Law enforcement needs standards that hold up in court. If agents target known offenders, say it and prove it. If stops drift into neighborhood profiling, cases can collapse and public trust goes with them.

An armed Russian drone slammed into an apartment building in Galati, Romania, near Ukraine’s border, injuring two civilians. Romanian authorities say these are the first civilian injuries inside Romania tied to a Russian drone since the war began. Romania is NATO territory.

That fact changes the weight of the story. A drone hitting homes is not background noise from Ukraine. It is a warning to every NATO planner watching the Danube corridor. Romania will now face pressure to harden air defenses near the border.

NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced COGE, the Commission on Government Efficiency, and said it will meet with community organizers and union members to shape city coordination and spending. The name drew instant comparisons to Elon Musk’s DOGE under President Trump. The difference is obvious.

DOGE was built around cutting waste. Mamdani’s version starts by inviting groups that already drive city spending. New Yorkers need audits, fraud referrals, and bad contracts ripped up. They do not need another committee with a quarky acronym.

Today’s theme is power. Space power, border power, sanctions power, impeachment power, and military power on NATO soil. I want strong government where it belongs: defending the country, enforcing lawful standards, and protecting citizens.
